Still Experiencing Symptoms on Thyroid Medication? Here's What You Can Do
Hello, Health Enthusiasts!
Many of you reached out after my last post, asking a crucial question: What should you do if you're still experiencing symptoms despite being on thyroid medication? Let’s tackle this in 60 seconds or less!
Understanding the Issue:
If you're on medications like Levothyroxine, Synthroid, Unithroid, or Tyrosine and still feeling off, the issue often lies in the balance of active and inactive hormones. These medications are primarily T4 (inactive hormone), and for some, this just isn't enough.
The Solution: Adding T3 to Your Regimen:
The key step here is to introduce T3, the active form of thyroid hormone, into your treatment. Medications like Cytomel or its generic form, Liothyronine, provide this essential T3. This addition can create a balance in your biochemistry, offering both T4 and T3.
Why T3 Matters:
T3 is the hormone that actively influences your metabolism, energy levels, and overall well-being. Without enough T3, you might continue to experience symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, and more, even though your T4 levels are being addressed.
Talking to Your Doctor:
If you're on a T4-only medication and still struggling, discuss with your doctor the possibility of adding a T3 medication like Cytomel or Liothyronine. This could be the game-changer in your treatment plan.
Dosage Tips:
Many patients, including those at my clinic, find it beneficial to take T3 medication twice a day – once in the morning and again around 2 to 3 p.m. This helps maintain a steady level of energy and symptom relief throughout the day.
Take Action:
Don’t settle for feeling less than your best. If your current thyroid treatment isn't cutting it, there's hope and there are options.
Stay proactive about your thyroid health!
